STAINED GLASS CARE
TOUCHING
I use the traditional “lead came” method of making stained glass. Essentially, the individual pieces of glass are held together by small channeled pieces of lead. Lead is harmful to humans only if ingested, and owning a stained glass piece poses little to no risk if handled thoughtfully. Simply wash your hands after handling.
*Please keep stained glass out of reach of children.*
CLEANING
If your stained glass piece is dusty or has fingerprints, simply use a soft cleaning cloth to buff and shine the glass. For a deeper clean, you can use an ammonia free glass cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or anything abrasive as they can change or damage the lead and glass.
HANGING
When hanging your stained glass piece, I recommend that you do so from a hook that is screwed into a window frame, or other sturdy location. I wouldn’t hang by suction cups on a window, as they can easily fail and your piece can fall and break. If the piece is small enough, you can get by with hanging from one sturdy chain. For larger pieces, you will hang from two separate chains on two separate hooks.
VIEWING
Your stained glass piece is designed to be hung in a window and back lit. The colors and textures in glass change in different lights, different times of day, and different angles. Glass itself is handmade and has variations of texture: streaks, bubbles, and waves.
